General questions

  • Is my workshop pottery ready to be picked up? I forgot to pick up my workshop pottery. Do you still have it? Click here for info on workshop pottery pickup.

  • When will you be adding more Start Here sessions? How can I get into a class when everything fills up so quickly? We run ~three Start Here groups each month and the schedule shows sessions that will begin within the next 60 days. Click here to add your name to our Start Here waitlist if an available date is full. You must add your name to multiple waitlists if you are interested in being contacted for multiple dates.

  • Can I reschedule my workshop or Start Here series? No; because of the high demand and waitlists for these events, we are not able to allow rescheduling. You may cancel your booking and repurchase an open date, assuming you meet the cancelation terms you agreed to when you booked your original session. You may also let another person of your choosing take your place in a workshop or for the entirety of your Start Here series.

  • Do you offer gift certificates for classes? We offer gift certificates for one-time workshops but not for ongoing classes or Start Here sessions. Click here to purchase a one-time workshop gift certificate.

  • Does Mud Lily fire outside work? Sorry; not currently.

  • Do you have parking? Yes! We are so lucky that we can offer you one of 7 off-street spots right in front of the studio. Make an immediate right turn once you enter the alley from Adam Ave. Please note that we are required to lock the parking lot before/after business hours.

  • What are your hours?

    Our hours are:

  • Tuesday: 10:30a-1:30p and 6-9p

  • Wednesday: 10:30a-1:30p and 6-9p

  • Thursday: 10:30a-1:30p and 6-9p

  • Friday: Workshops per schedule

  • Saturday: 10:30a-1:30p and workshops per schedule

  • Sunday: 10:30a-1:30p and workshops per schedule

Private events may be arranged according to your availability and openings at the studio. For a general idea of private event hours click here.

  • Can I reach you by phone? It is very difficult for us to respond to phone calls while at the studio--we are typically teaching and we always have clay all over our hands! The fastest way to reach us is by email: hello@mudlilyclay.com. To reach our voicemail system, leave a message at 619-784-6970.

  • Can I bring work in progress home to finish it (or vice versa)? No; we only fire pieces that are started and completed during your time here.

  • Do you accept cash? Only for in-store retail purchases.

Questions about ongoing classes and one-time workshops

  • I have previous experience. Do I really have to take a “Start Here” series? Yes. During Start Here sessions you learn to use our studio safely and according to our requirements.

  • Can class packs be shared? No; class packs can only be used by one person and cannot be shared.

  • Are there times when I can just work on my own? Yes! Once you have taken our Start Here series, you can book independent studio sessions. Just be sure to sign up in advance and indicate whether you need a pottery wheel or not.

  • Do I have to pay for 3 hours for every visit? Yes. Classes and independent studio sessions are booked in 3 hour increments and unused hours cannot be rolled over. But you are welcome to come in for only an hour or two if you want! You can stop in to check on your work in progress or move pieces over to be fired anytime we are open, without booking/paying for time.
