Part-Time Studio Assistant

Duties:

  • Instruct intro pottery classes

  • Load and fire bisque and glaze kilns

  • Supervise independent studio users

  • Handle retail purchases

  • Perform various studio tasks including opening/closing responsibilities, studio cleaning, clay reclaim, managing student ware, etc.

Requirements:

  • Intermediate-level understanding of mid-fire ceramics and pottery studio processes; experience creating wheel-thrown and typical non-wheel types of pottery;  previous use of a public/community-type studio preferred.

  • Ability to communicate and demonstrate instructional concepts so that others will understand; previous teaching experience (doesn’t have to be ceramics) preferred.

  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to manage and complete multiple projects at once and to observe details at close range.

  • Ability to operate various types of machinery according to directions and while following all safety precautions—this includes loud equipment and electrical equipment that reaches high temperatures; ability to move fragile items and items weighing up to 50lbs with care; ability to maintain stationary positions for extended periods of time.


Hourly wage: $18.00 plus some studio use/access. This position is fully in-house, at our Adams Avenue studio location.
